Carina Investment Advice Limited is a New Zealand based business is led by Paul Richardson. Paul has over 30 years experience in the financial sector in NZ and Australia , as a Chief Investment Officer, Executive Director, Head of Research and Funds Manager. Paul also worked prior to this in the resources sector in Asia.
Carina’s mission is to provide highly differentiated, totally independent, leading edge investment management services to key clients. Carina is wholly partner owned and has no conflicts of interest. We believe that market is being poorly served by existing offers, being plain vanilla, overpriced, unsophisticated, non real-world and unsuited to true individual and family needs and goals.
Carina’s key areas of focus are provision of Goals Based wealth management services for clients. This includes a highly customisable Strategic Asset Allocation model, a focus on sustainable investing , on best governance and in-depth attention to the little-researched Real Assets and Emerging Markets sectors.

MANAGING DIRECTOR
Paul Richardson
For the 5 years until September 2018 Paul was Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Mint Asset Management - a boutique share, property and diversified fund manager. He was responsible for the investment team and led the SRI investment programme. He helped Mint achieve over $1 billion funds under management in that time. Paul is a shareholder and Director of AgInvest, parent of MyFarm - a direct agricultural investment firm with over $550m of managed assets - and has had 13 year relationship with MyFarm as well as investing in their syndicates. Prior to this from 2003 to 2012 he was Fund Manager and CIO at BT Funds Management (Westpac) in NZ, which grew to over $3.5 billion funds under management. In this time he helped build the Westpac KiwiSaver diversified retail funds. Paul was Executive Director, Head of Research and Senior Equities analyst at UBS (originally Buttle Wilson, then SBC Warburg) in NZ and Australia from 1991 to 2003 covering the resources, telecommunications, energy, utilities and waste sectors. Paul has been a NZ #1 ranked analyst for energy and telcos sectors. Prior to this he worked in Asia as a minerals exploration geologist.
